Airbnb announced that its Project Lighthouse initiative has led to improved booking success rates for all perceived racial groups in the United States. This tool, developed in partnership with civil rights and privacy organizations, aims to identify and address potential disparities on the platform.

Since 2021, the booking success rate has increased for all perceived racial groups, with the largest disparity, between guests perceived to be Black and guests perceived to be white, nearly halved from 2.7 to 1.4 percentage points. All guests achieved a booking success rate above 94% in 2023.

These improvements are attributed to platform and product interventions, including making Instant Book more accessible and enhancing host response times to booking requests. The company states this work has supported hundreds of thousands of bookings in the U.S. over the past two years, reinforcing its commitment to an inclusive and accessible platform.
