The 2025 ACI Speedpay Pulse Report, published by ACI Worldwide, reveals a surging demand for faster payments, with three out of ten consumers now making urgent or same-day bill payments. This trend is particularly pronounced among younger demographics, with 84% of these urgent payments made by Gen Z and Millennials. The report indicates that 25% of consumers would consider paying for faster payment processing, with 79% of those being Gen Z and Millennials.
The report, now in its 8th edition, examines consumer billing and payment trends, offering insights for billers to capitalize on emerging preferences. It highlights that digital payment channels now dominate the landscape, with mobile wallets being embraced across generations. The transformative potential of AI is also prompting billers to reimagine bill pay, though 89.2% of consumers still prefer engaging a live person for resolving bill-related issues.
Ron Shultz, General Manager of ACI Speedpay, emphasized that in a digital-first world, speed, simplicity, and self-service are competitive imperatives. He stated that customer loyalty is built on instant, seamless, and frictionless payments, grounded in trust and customer centricity. Billers who meet these customer expectations can achieve tangible business values, including faster collections at lower costs and greater operational efficiency.
