AECOM announced today its selection by CH. Karnchang Plc (CK) to serve as the project lead designer for the Metropolitan Rapid Transit (MRT) Orange Line West Project in Bangkok, Thailand. This is one of the largest rail infrastructure projects in the country.
The western section of the Orange Line will span 13.4 kilometers with 11 underground stations, connecting the Thai Cultural Centre to Bang Khunnon. AECOM's role includes the design of twin bored tunnels, tunnel ventilation systems, all structural, architectural, and building services for the stations, and trackwork systems.
This win leverages AECOM's global rail capabilities and its extensive experience in transit development throughout Southeast Asia, including previous work on Thailand's Purple Line and other metro projects. The full 35.9-kilometer line will link Bangkok's eastern and western sides, bolstering regional connectivity.
