AECOM announced today its selection by the City of Austin as the prime consultant for the expansion of the Walnut Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Austin, Texas. This project aims to improve the aging structure’s operational and environmental features. The expansion will increase the plant’s capacity from 75 million gallons per day (MGD) to 100 MGD, bolstering the resiliency of the community’s wastewater infrastructure. AECOM's scope includes process, mechanical, civil, electrical, and structural engineering services, along with constructing a new 25 MGD treatment train and a 120-inch outfall line. This contract builds on AECOM's long-standing partnership with the City of Austin, where it has designed substantial portions of the city’s major water and wastewater treatment plants. The project aligns with AECOM's Sustainable Legacies strategy by enhancing environmental protection and meeting future community demands.
