AECOM has secured a $270 million, 10‑year indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration to provide architecture and engineering services for air‑traffic control towers, terminal radar approach control facilities, and navigational aids across the FAA’s Eastern, Central and Western Service Areas.
The award underscores AECOM’s deep aviation expertise—having delivered more than $100 billion of aviation projects worldwide—and extends a 44‑year partnership with the FAA. The contract will give AECOM a predictable, long‑term revenue stream that aligns with its strategy to capture a larger share of the federal infrastructure market and to deepen its engagement in high‑margin, early‑stage advisory and program‑management work.
Two task orders have already been issued under the IDIQ: one for architecture and engineering support at Florence Regional Airport in South Carolina and another for design services at Chicago Rockford International Airport in Illinois. While the individual task‑order values are not disclosed, they represent the first tangible work under the new contract and signal the agency’s confidence in AECOM’s delivery capabilities.
The $270 million ceiling over a decade translates to an average annual revenue of $27 million, a significant addition to AECOM’s aviation portfolio and a boost to its federal contracting pipeline. The IDIQ structure allows the company to respond quickly to new FAA needs, improving operational efficiency and positioning AECOM to win additional work in the Central and Western regions. The contract also strengthens AECOM’s competitive advantage by leveraging its proven track record and long‑standing relationship with the FAA, which can be a differentiator in future bidding processes.
Bane Gaiser, chief executive of AECOM’s global Buildings + Places business, said, “Our team has successfully delivered more than $100 billion of aviation projects globally, including the design and delivery of more than 20 air traffic control towers to date. We’re excited to support the FAA in delivering resilient, high‑performance infrastructure that contributes to the continued safety and efficiency of U.S. airspace.” Karl Jensen, executive vice president of AECOM’s Governments business, added, “This award reaffirms our role as a key partner in designing for the future FAA. As we continue our 44‑year partnership, we’re proud to expand our portfolio in the Eastern Region and deepen our impact across the Central and Western Regions.”
The contract comes at a time when the FAA is aggressively modernizing its air‑traffic control system to meet growing demand and enhance safety. AECOM’s involvement positions it at the forefront of this national effort, and the long‑term nature of the agreement provides a stable foundation for future growth in the aviation infrastructure sector.
