On May 6, 2025, a U.S. District Judge in Boston denied bail for Mahdi Sadeghi, a former Analog Devices, Inc. engineer, who is awaiting trial on charges related to a deadly drone attack. The judge cited a significant flight risk, overturning a federal magistrate judge's earlier determination to grant bail.

Prosecutors had initially been open to a bail package but shifted their stance after Sadeghi's co-defendant, Iranian businessman Mohammad Abedini, was released by the Italian government and returned to Iran. This event raised concerns that Iran might assist Sadeghi in fleeing.

Sadeghi pleaded not guilty to charges of engaging in a scheme to violate U.S. export control and sanctions laws. Prosecutors allege that while working at Analog Devices, Sadeghi helped Abedini secure technology that was transferred to Iran, including electronic components used in a military drone navigation system.
