ADM Opens Pioneering R&D Center for Animal Health and Wellness in Switzerland

Archer-Daniels-Midland announced on June 20, 2025, the opening of a new 1,600-square-meter research and development (R&D) center in Lausanne, Switzerland. This facility is dedicated to advancing research into animal microbiomes and developing tailored products for pet, livestock, and aquaculture health and wellness.

The innovation hub will focus on pre-clinical research to address health challenges using biotics and other fermentation-derived ingredients. Dr. Nuria Miquel, Senior Vice President and Chief Science Officer at ADM, highlighted the significant growth in the global pet and farm animal microbiome market, estimated at $5.2 billion in 2024.

This state-of-the-art center represents a significant step forward in ADM's purpose to advance animal wellness through science and innovation. It will deploy cutting-edge scientific and technological tools to deepen understanding of the gut microbiome's role in broader animal health and support the development of science-backed solutions for customers.
