Archer-Daniels-Midland and OCOchem announced a production partnership on August 18, 2025, to build a field demonstration plant at ADM’s corn processing complex in Decatur, Illinois. The facility will utilize OCOchem’s Carbon FluX Electrolyzer technology.
The plant is designed to convert biogenic CO2 from ADM’s ethanol production stream into formate molecules. These carbon-negative molecules can be used in a wide variety of consumer and industrial products and applications, replacing fossil fuel-based alternatives.
Construction of the plant is expected to commence later in 2025 and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. This collaboration represents a strategic step for ADM in industrial carbon management and sustainable molecule production, aiming to unlock new value across the bio-based economy.
