ADTRAN announced on September 26, 2024, that 1&1 Versatel is upgrading its nationwide fiber optic network across Germany using ADTRAN's FSP 3000 open optical transport technology. This new flexgrid solution is designed to expand network capacity to support data rates up to 800Gbit/s, covering approximately 65,000km of fiber infrastructure.
The deployment aims to enhance connectivity for businesses and public institutions throughout Germany, with plans to roll out the technology at over 135 locations this year. This includes approximately 250 individual fiber optic connections across 75 key traffic routes, representing a multi-million-euro investment by 1&1 Versatel.
ADTRAN's ALM fiber monitoring solution is also included in the deployment, providing real-time network assurance and enabling swift, proactive maintenance responses. This comprehensive upgrade ensures a future-proof infrastructure to meet the growing digital demands of the German market.
