AerCap CEO Aengus Kelly stated that potential new trade tariffs could significantly impact Boeing aircraft prices, with a worst-case scenario of a 25% tariff increasing the price of a Boeing 787 by $40 million. Kelly noted that such an increase would likely cause most airlines to favor Airbus, potentially allowing Airbus to capture 75% to 80% of the global market.

Kelly emphasized that tariffs could hinder Boeing's efforts to generate much-needed cash and disrupt supply chains. Despite these concerns, AerCap, which purchased 150 aircraft, helicopters, and spare engines from Boeing last year, has observed recent improvements in the quality, reliability, and safety of Boeing's products.

The CEO's comments highlight the sensitivity of the aviation leasing industry to global trade policies and their potential to alter competitive dynamics between major aircraft manufacturers. AerCap continues to monitor these developments while maintaining its strong demand outlook, despite a 'soft patch' driven by labor costs.
