AerCap Holdings N.V. delivered the first of three Boeing 777‑300ERSF passenger‑to‑freighter conversions to Hong Kong‑based leasing and ACMI/CMI provider Fly Meta on November 21, 2025. The aircraft, known as “The Big Twin,” entered commercial service in mid‑September after receiving FAA and CAAI certification on August 31, 2025, and is now positioned to enhance Fly Meta’s long‑haul cargo network across the Asia‑Pacific and EMEA regions.

The 777‑300ERSF offers 25 % more cargo capacity than smaller twin‑engine long‑haul freighters, delivering significant cost efficiencies and extended range. Its conversion from a 777‑300ER passenger airframe allows operators to tap the growing demand for high‑capacity, fuel‑efficient freighters that can replace aging 747‑400Fs and MD‑11Fs. The aircraft’s nickname, “The Big Twin,” reflects its size and operational commonality with existing 777‑300ER fleets.

Fly Meta will operate the aircraft under a Crew Maintenance and Insurance (CMI) contract with Air Atlanta Icelandic, which will provide ACMI services and maintain the freighter. The remaining two 777‑300ERSFs are scheduled for delivery in the second and fourth quarters of 2026, expanding Fly Meta’s fleet of efficient wide‑body freighters and reinforcing the partnership’s focus on e‑commerce and express cargo markets.

AerCap’s delivery aligns with its broader strategy to grow its cargo leasing business in high‑growth regions. By adding a modern, high‑capacity freighter, AerCap strengthens its position in a market where demand for long‑haul cargo aircraft is accelerating, particularly as e‑commerce and express delivery services expand. The partnership with Fly Meta also extends AerCap’s presence in the e‑commerce and express cargo segments, supporting the company’s focus on high‑yield, high‑utilization assets.

Rich Greener, Head of AerCap Cargo, said the Big Twin “offers significant cost efficiencies, superior range and outstanding operational commonality.” Helen Chen, CEO of Fly Meta, added that the aircraft “will significantly strengthen our cargo corridor and further expand our ability to serve global e‑commerce, express and specialty cargo markets.”

The delivery underscores AerCap’s capability to execute complex passenger‑to‑freighter conversions and deliver high‑quality assets to customers, reinforcing its reputation as a leading aviation lessor and supporting its long‑term growth strategy in the cargo market.
