Akamai Technologies announced on February 25, 2025, the introduction of a Managed Container Service designed for enterprises seeking to deliver better experiences by running workloads closer to users, devices, and data sources. Akamai is currently testing the service with customer applications in over 100 cities.

Adam Karon, Akamai COO and GM, Cloud Technology Group, stated that customers can take advantage of Akamai's global presence to run and scale their workloads while maintaining predictable costs. IDC Research VP Dave McCarthy noted that the service underscores Akamai's commitment to providing highly responsive infrastructure for consistent user experiences, whether applications run in a central cloud region or across Akamai's distributed locations.
