Akamai Technologies, Inc. announced on February 20, 2025, that it has closed a multi-year strategic usage agreement with one of the world's largest technology companies. Under the terms of this deal, the customer has committed to spending over $100 million on Akamai's full-stack cloud computing capabilities. This significant contract validates Akamai's enterprise-grade cloud offerings and its ability to attract major technology platforms.
The customer will have the flexibility to leverage Akamai's full portfolio to manage, deliver, and secure data, augmenting and improving its own infrastructure services. Akamai will deploy managed Kubernetes clusters in secured virtual private cloud (VPC) environments, load-balance user traffic, and apply integrated application and network security on Akamai Cloud.
This deployment aims to enable optimal performance with more attractive cloud economics, ensuring an excellent experience for users while allowing the customer to manage traffic and data locally. Adam Karon, Akamai COO and GM, Cloud Technology Group, stated that technology platforms with a massive global presence require sophisticated and reliable cloud services, which Akamai provides with its scale and ultra-low latency performance.
