The lawsuits allege that Angel’s products and associated software infringe Align patents, which encompass innovations such as multilayer aligner materials, cutting-edge treatment planning, and advanced aligner features. Align is seeking both injunctive relief and monetary damages through these intellectual property enforcement efforts.
Julie Coletti, Align's EVP, Chief Legal and Regulatory Officer, stated that Align invests over $300 million annually in research and development to drive innovation. She emphasized the company's commitment to protecting its innovations when competitors choose to infringe rather than legitimately perform their own R&D.
