Applied Materials, Inc. announced a strategic initiative to strengthen the semiconductor manufacturing supply chain in the United States, collaborating with Apple and Texas Instruments (TI). Applied Materials will supply American-made chipmaking equipment from its Austin, Texas facility to TI's U.S. factories, supporting Apple's partnership with TI.
The company plans to invest over $200 million in Arizona to establish a new state-of-the-art facility for manufacturing critical components for semiconductor equipment. This investment builds upon more than $400 million Applied Materials has already invested in its U.S. equipment manufacturing infrastructure over the past five years.
The new Arizona facility is projected to create potentially 200 additional manufacturing, R&D, and services jobs in the semiconductor field over a five-year period. CEO Gary Dickerson emphasized the importance of strengthening America's semiconductor leadership in the AI era, highlighting Applied Materials' role in enabling U.S. chip supply chain resilience.
