On January 13, 2025, Ameresco, Inc. announced the execution of an Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) for the Denver Federal Center (DFC). This award is valued at $183 million.
The project aims to advance the electrification of the DFC with 14.4 megawatts of ground-mount solar photovoltaic systems and 62.4 million British thermal units per hour of geothermal bores. It also includes 20.1 MMBtu/h of electric heat pump capacity to displace fossil fuel-fired equipment across 13 buildings.
These upgrades are designed to cut grid-purchased energy use by approximately 51% and reduce fossil fuel consumption by 51.5%. The project aligns with GSA’s goal of achieving a net-zero campus by 2045 and includes an Energy Sales Agreement leveraging tax credits for renewable energy.
