Ansys Lumerical Photonic Design Tools Certified by GlobalFoundries for GF Fotonix Platform

Ansys and GlobalFoundries collaborated to certify four Ansys Lumerical photonic solvers for use with the GF Fotonix™ platform. This certification empowers engineers to simulate passive and active photonic components with high-fidelity, aiming to reduce costs and improve the performance of photonics chips. The partnership provides access to reliable, multiphysics simulation solutions that address design challenges for a range of high-capacity chips.

The GF Fotonix platform is a feature-rich silicon photonics platform, offering monolithic integration of photonic and electronic components. The certified Ansys Lumerical solutions include FDTD, MODE, CHARGE, and HEAT, covering a wide range of capabilities from passive to active photonic component design, including modeling the effects of electrical and thermal stimulus on optical behavior. These solvers have been benchmarked against real measurement data to ensure high-fidelity simulations.

This collaboration is crucial for applications in generative AI, autonomous vehicles, hyperscale data center communications, and IoT, which demand high-bandwidth, low-latency data transmission, and low power consumption.
