Aon Hires New Leadership to Accelerate North American Construction and Surety Practice

Aon plc announced on March 10, 2025, that Rob McDonough and Brian Hodges will join the firm to accelerate its construction, infrastructure, and surety practice in North America. McDonough will rejoin Aon as CEO of construction, infrastructure, and surety, North America, while Hodges will join as head of surety, North America. Both leaders will report to Brian Wanat, head of commercial risk for North America at Aon. McDonough brings decades of experience in the construction industry and will lead the strategy and growth of the business, leveraging Aon's investments in data, analytics, and content. Hodges, with over 25 years of industry experience, will lead the surety team, focusing on managing complex indemnity structures and creating differentiated solutions for clients. Both leaders previously held roles at Marsh McLennan. Brian Wanat emphasized that construction is a top priority for Aon, and these appointments will enable the firm to deliver unmatched service and expertise to help clients mitigate risk. Lori Goltermann, CEO of Regions and North America for Aon, stated that their leadership will be instrumental in meeting clients' evolving needs in a market characterized by new and emerging risks. Tony DeFelice will continue as chairman of casualty, and Mike Herrod will move into the role of chairman of surety at Aon.
