Amtech Systems, Inc. announced the appointment of Asif Y. Jakwani to its Board of Directors on January 23, 2025. Mr. Jakwani brings extensive experience in the semiconductor industry, particularly in power semiconductors and silicon carbide (SiC) technologies.
Prior to joining Amtech's board, Mr. Jakwani served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Advanced Power Division at On Semiconductor Corporation (Onsemi) from February 2020 until March 2024. In this role, he was responsible for all power discrete and modules for Onsemi, including SiC products.
His seventeen-year career at Onsemi included various positions with increasing responsibilities, and he previously held marketing and design engineering roles at Tyco Electronics Power Systems and Current Technology, Inc. This appointment is expected to support Amtech's strategic focus on growth opportunities in advanced mobility and power electronic packaging.
