Broadcom Inc. announced the general availability of its new Emulex Secure Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBA), an industry-first solution offering quantum-resistant network encryption. These HBAs are designed to encrypt all data moving between servers and storage.
The Emulex Secure HBAs enable real-time ransomware detection, a critical feature as ransomware attacks continue to rise, with average costs reaching $5.37 million per attack in 2024. This addresses cybersecurity mandates such as the United States’ CNSA 2.0 and the European Union’s NIS 2.
The solution provides advantages over application-based encryption by preserving storage array services like deduplication and compression, and operates without a performance penalty. Available in 32G and 64G speeds and various port configurations, these HBAs offer a simple, session-based key management.
