Brookfield Asset Management Ltd. announced the completion of its previously-announced arrangement to enhance its corporate structure and broaden shareholder ownership. In this transaction, BAM acquired approximately 73% of the outstanding common shares of Brookfield’s asset management business from Brookfield Corporation (BN).
This acquisition was made in exchange for 1,194,021,145 newly-issued Class A Limited Voting Shares of BAM, on a one-for-one basis. As a result, BAM now has a total of 1,637,198,026 Class A Shares issued and outstanding, with BN retaining approximately a 73% interest.
The arrangement was approved by BAM shareholders on January 27, 2025, and received final court approval on January 30, 2025. This transaction paves the way for BAM's stock inclusion in widely followed U.S. market indices, which is expected to broaden its shareholder base and increase share liquidity.
