The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), in partnership with Argo Infrastructure Partners and Brookfield Asset Management, announced the signing of a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA). This agreement involves the Smoky Mountain Hydroelectric facilities, jointly owned by Argo and Brookfield.
Starting in 2025, the Smoky facilities will supply over 14 gigawatt hours of carbon-free energy to TVA customers over the next decade. This advances TVA's goal towards net-zero emissions by 2050 and provides a stable, long-term revenue stream for Brookfield's assets.
The Smoky portfolio comprises 377 megawatts of four hydroelectric power facilities in east Tennessee and western North Carolina, generating an annual average of 1.4 million megawatt-hours of carbon-free energy. This agreement highlights the increasing demand for clean power solutions at scale to support the energy transition.
