Braemar Hotels & Resorts Inc. announced on October 7, 2024, that Jay Shah, a seasoned hospitality and real estate executive, has joined its Board of Directors as a new independent director. Mr. Shah, age 56, brings extensive experience from his many years of executive leadership positions at Hersha Hotels & Resorts, where he served as CEO for 17 years.
Monty J. Bennett, Braemar's Chairman, stated that Mr. Shah's executive, operational, and finance knowledge will make him a valuable addition to the board. Mr. Shah's background includes serving as Senior Advisor to Hersha Hotels & Resorts since November 8, 2023, and as Executive Chairman since January 1, 2023.
His experience also extends to various industry and advisory boards, including Cornell University's Dean's Advisory Board for the School of Hotel Administration and the American Hotel & Lodging Association's Board of Directors. This appointment is expected to enhance the board's strategic oversight and industry insight.
