Baker Hughes announced on October 28, 2024, significant contracts with Petrobras to supply 77 kilometers of flexible pipe systems for deployment in Brazil’s pre-salt fields. The agreement, signed on October 15, 2024, followed an open tender process. The multi-year project includes risers and flowlines for hydrocarbon production, associated gas, and water injection, along with support for equipment storage, maintenance, and installation. Delivery is scheduled to commence in mid-2026, with equipment destined for Petrobras’ Búzios, Libra, Berbigão, Sururu, and Sépia fields. These flexible pipe systems are designed to address stress-induced corrosion cracking from CO2 (SCC-CO2), a critical issue in pre-salt fields with high gas concentrations. Baker Hughes' technology has proven effective in mitigating this problem, supporting Petrobras' commitment to limiting CO2 emissions and enhancing oil recovery.
