Bruker Corporation announced on April 7, 2025, the successful development and testing of the world’s first high-resolution 1.3 GHz NMR spectrometer. This system features a stable, standard-bore 54 mm superconducting magnet, pushing the boundaries of NMR research. The 1.3 GHz NMR spectrometer incorporates a novel ReBCO high-temperature superconductor (HTS) insert, generating a field strength of 30.5 Tesla. Despite the higher field, it maintains the same physical dimensions and cryogen consumption as Bruker’s 1.2 GHz magnets. Applications testing confirmed the system's applicability, yielding high-resolution liquids and solids NMR spectra at 1.3 GHz. This increased resolution and sensitivity is particularly beneficial for spectroscopy of bio-macromolecules like carbohydrates, glycoproteins, RNA, and intrinsically disordered proteins, as well as for advanced materials science research.
