Burlington Stores announced on May 5, 2025, that it has acquired 46 leases from JOANN's Fabrics, which are expected to open as new Burlington locations in 2026. This move is part of Burlington's strategy to opportunistically leverage the challenging retail environment.
This acquisition follows previous efforts to secure desirable retail locations, including 64 former Bed Bath & Beyond locations in 2023 and dozens more from other troubled retailers in 2024. These acquisitions supplement Burlington's organic site selection pipeline.
By acquiring these leases, Burlington gains access to prime retail locations that might otherwise be unavailable, positioning the company to meet or exceed its goal of 500 net new stores by the end of Fiscal 2028 and further expand its market share.
