Bowman Consulting Group Ltd. won a $7 million, multi‑year contract to lead the design of a fish passage and flood‑mitigation project in the Fauntleroy Creek watershed of West Seattle. The award, announced on November 17, 2025, marks the firm’s first time serving as the primary design lead for Seattle Public Utilities (SPU).

The project will replace a 376‑foot culvert beneath California Avenue SW that currently blocks salmon migration and increases flood risk. Design work is slated to begin in 2025, with construction expected to be completed by 2031. The engagement covers civil and structural engineering, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stream and habitat restoration, utility coordination, environmental permitting, and landscape architecture.

Bowman’s financial performance in the months surrounding the award underscores the contract’s importance. In Q4 2024 the company generated $98.6 million in revenue and an EPS of $0.33, beating forecasts. Q3 2025 revenue rose to $126.03 million, with EPS climbing to $0.38, although revenue missed estimates. For the full year 2024, revenue reached $426.6 million, a 23.2% increase from 2023. The $7 million contract therefore represents roughly 1.6% of annual revenue, a meaningful addition to a growing pipeline of multidisciplinary projects.

Segment analysis shows that transportation and power/utilities divisions drove the Q3 2025 growth, while other segments lagged. The firm’s focus on high‑margin infrastructure work in these areas has helped offset headwinds in legacy product lines and supports the company’s strategy of expanding its footprint in the Pacific Northwest. The new SPU contract aligns with this trend, reinforcing Bowman’s position as a trusted partner for large‑scale public‑works projects.

Founder and CEO Gary Bowman said the project “embodies the intersection of our commitments to engineering excellence and environmental stewardship.” He added that leading the design for SPU “demonstrates our growing role as a trusted partner in the Pacific Northwest and highlights our dedication to sustainable infrastructure.”

The award is a strategic milestone that expands Bowman’s presence in a key regional market, strengthens its sustainability portfolio, and adds a long‑term revenue stream that aligns with the firm’s focus on multidisciplinary, high‑impact projects.
