Building a Remarkable Virginia, a political action committee funded by Comstock Holding Companies, made significant donations to Virginia political campaigns. The PAC donated $105,000 to Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears' campaign for governor, with installments of $55,000 on June 2 and $50,000 on June 3. Additionally, the PAC donated over $95,000 to two Democratic Party candidates in the Virginia lieutenant governor’s race. This included an additional $25,000 to Hashmi Ghazala five days before the June 17 Democratic primary, bringing her total from Comstock to $95,745, including in-kind donations. Aaron Rouse, whom Ghazala defeated in the primary, received an additional $25,000 from a business entity owned by the casino backer on June 6, and $4,780 for event catering, bringing his total from Comstock to $99,780. These contributions highlight Comstock's substantial financial engagement in Virginia politics, particularly in relation to its interest in building a casino in Fairfax County.
