The Virginia Senate approved Senate Bill 982, the Tysons casino bill, on a 24 to 16 vote, marking a significant legislative advancement for the proposed project. This bill would allow Fairfax County to hold a referendum on building a casino.
Following its approval by the Senate, the legislation has been referred to the House of Delegates's appropriations committee for further consideration. Comstock Holding Companies has invested over $1.5 million since 2023 in lobbying and campaign contributions to support the passage of this legislation.
The proposed project includes a 4 million-square-foot entertainment district in Tysons, featuring a high-end hotel with a gaming floor, convention center, concert venue, restaurants, retail, and workforce housing. Approximately 200,000 square feet of the district would be dedicated to a casino.
