Clarivate introduced the Derwent Patent Monitor on November 24, 2025, an AI‑powered platform that integrates its Derwent World Patents Index data with advanced threat‑analysis algorithms to streamline freedom‑to‑operate, patentability, and opposition reviews.

The new tool consolidates over 67 million invention summaries and leverages a team of more than 850 Clarivate experts, providing a single, AI‑driven view that reduces siloed workflows and speeds up risk assessment for IP leaders.

The launch is a key element of Clarivate’s Value Creation Plan, which targets a 90 % subscription‑based revenue mix. By adding a recurring, high‑margin product to its Intellectual Property portfolio, the company aims to offset recent headwinds in the segment and accelerate its transition to AI‑enabled subscription offerings.

Clarivate’s IP segment has faced flat or declining recurring revenue in recent quarters, prompting a shift away from low‑margin transactional products. The Derwent Patent Monitor is part of a broader effort to revitalize the segment by replacing legacy workflows with automated, AI‑driven solutions.

Shandon Quinn, Vice President of Patent Intelligence, said the monitor “addresses the pain points of IP leaders by providing a single, AI‑driven view that reduces siloed workflows and speeds up risk assessment.” The platform also draws on Clarivate’s extensive data assets and expert network to deliver actionable insights.

The launch follows earlier AI initiatives, such as the AI Search in Derwent™ introduced in December 2024, and the acquisition of MotionHall in March 2024 to strengthen its Life Sciences & Healthcare AI portfolio. These moves reinforce Clarivate’s strategy to embed AI across all segments.

While specific revenue projections for the new monitor have not been disclosed, analysts expect it to contribute to the IP segment’s recurring revenue growth and help Clarivate meet its 2025 subscription revenue target.

The product launch demonstrates Clarivate’s commitment to transforming its IP offerings and expanding its AI footprint, positioning the company to capture growing demand for automated patent analysis tools in a competitive market that includes Thomson Reuters and Elsevier.
