On August 21, 2025, Chipotle Mexican Grill announced a partnership with drone delivery leader Zipline to test autonomous food delivery, branded as 'Zipotle delivery,' in the greater Dallas area. The initial rollout will begin with select customers in Rowlett, Texas, offering the full Chipotle menu.

Zipline's Platform 2 models, designed to be insulated, fast, and quiet, will deliver orders from a Chipotle location to customers' homes. The aircraft will hover at about 300 feet, lowering the order to the ground via a robot called Zip. Initially, deliveries will carry up to 5.5 pounds, with plans to increase to 8 pounds.

The delivery service will cost $2.99 plus a 15% service fee, capped at $6, and will operate seven days a week from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. CT, with plans to extend to 10 p.m. CT. This initiative aims to resonate with a younger consumer base, who tend to skew higher towards delivery, and represents a strategic move to enhance convenience and potentially expand delivery reach without requiring drone locations at every restaurant.
