CRH announced the development of a new wind farm designed to provide renewable electricity to its Medgidia Cement Plant in Romania. This facility is the first of its kind in the country to exclusively power a cement plant.
The wind farm, which became fully operational in August 2023, consists of five turbines with a total installed capacity of approximately 30 MW. It is estimated to produce 80 GWh annually, significantly meeting the Medgidia Plant’s energy requirements.
This project is a key step in CRH's commitment to decarbonizing its operations and providing lower-carbon building materials. It contributes to Romania's clean energy transition and supports CRH's industry-leading target to reduce absolute carbon emissions by 30% by 2030.
