Corteva announced the launch of two new bioinsecticide solutions, Goltrevo and Varpelgo, that add a new mode of action to its crop‑protection portfolio. Goltrevo is a formulation derived from a novel strain of the entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana 203, originally isolated from palm weevil beetles, and is designed to protect a broad range of crops from sap‑feeding and chewing insects.

Varpelgo active is a nature‑inspired insecticide that targets chewing pests such as diamondback moths, armyworms, and several borer species. It also incorporates a seed‑applied technology that protects seedlings from wireworm damage, giving farmers a dual‑action solution that can be applied early in the growing season.

The two products are positioned to address the growing demand for low‑residue, environmentally friendly crop protection. Goltrevo is slated for commercial sales in Latin America as early as 2027, pending regulatory approvals, while Varpelgo is targeted for launch in the Asia Pacific and Latin America in the early 2030s. The timing aligns with Corteva’s strategy to capture a larger share of the biologicals market, which is projected to grow from 10% to 25–30% of the overall agriculture market over the next decade.

Corteva’s Q3 2025 earnings, released on the same day as the product announcement, beat expectations with an EPS of –$0.23 versus a consensus of –$0.49, a beat of $0.26 or 53%. The company also exceeded revenue estimates, reporting $2.62 billion against a consensus of $2.48 billion. The earnings beat was driven by strong demand in both the Seed and Crop Protection segments, offsetting headwinds such as currency impacts and competitive pricing in Latin America. Management attributed the improved operating EBITDA of $49 million, up 149% from the prior year, to disciplined cost management and a favorable product mix that included the newly launched solutions.

CEO Chuck Magro highlighted that the new bioinsecticides “complement our existing portfolio of leading biological and insecticide products and will help farmers better manage costly insect damage while supporting our vision of providing more sustainable solutions.” The company also raised its full‑year 2025 guidance for net sales to $17.7–$17.9 billion and operating EPS to $3.25–$3.35, signaling confidence in continued growth. Investors reacted positively, with the stock rising in pre‑market trading the following day as analysts noted the strong earnings beat and the strategic importance of the new products.

The launch of Goltrevo and Varpelgo fits into Corteva’s broader plan to separate into two independent companies in the second half of 2026—one focused on crop protection and the other on advanced genetics and seeds. By expanding its biologicals offering, Corteva aims to strengthen its competitive position in a market that is increasingly favoring sustainable solutions, while also positioning the crop‑protection arm for higher valuation multiples in the long term.
