Curtiss-Wright Corporation announced on February 25, 2025, that it has been awarded two contracts from TerraPower. These contracts are for the design and supply of plant simulation and digital control solutions for the Natrium 1 advanced nuclear reactor design.
Under the agreements, Curtiss-Wright will design and deliver the Training Simulator (TSN) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) for the Natrium plant. Additionally, the company has been selected to develop two separate control systems, the Nuclear Island Control system (NIC) and Energy Island Control system (EIC).
These new awards build upon previously secured contracts where Curtiss-Wright was chosen to develop the Reactor Protection System (RPS) and the software platform for the Natrium Engineering Simulator. TerraPower's Natrium reactor is a 345-megawatt sodium fast reactor, with its first plant expected to be online in 2030.
