Eletrobras has finalized an agreement with Copel to exchange various asset participations. Under the terms of the deal, Eletrobras will acquire 100% of the Colíder Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) assets. Additionally, Eletrobras will receive R$365 million in cash as part of the transaction.
In return, Copel will take stakes in other transmission and energy consortiums. This strategic transaction is expected to increase Eletrobras’ installed generation capacity by 122 MW. The company anticipates that this acquisition will enhance its EBITDA and net income.
The asset swap also contributes to reducing Eletrobras' overall liabilities. This move aligns with the company's post-privatization strategy of optimizing its portfolio and strengthening its core generation assets. The acquisition of Colíder HPP reinforces Eletrobras' dominant position in Brazil's electricity generation sector.
