Entegris, Inc. and the U.S. Department of Commerce announced on December 5, 2024, the finalization of an award agreement providing up to $77 million in funding under the CHIPS and Science Act. This funding will support Entegris's new state-of-the-art manufacturing center of excellence located in Colorado Springs. Entegris is the first supplier to semiconductor manufacturers to finalize such an award agreement.
The Colorado Springs facility is designed to produce critical products for semiconductor manufacturing, including liquid filtration products and Front-Opening-Unified Pods (FOUPs). All FOUPs are currently manufactured in Asia, making this domestic production a significant step towards a more resilient U.S. semiconductor ecosystem. The center is targeted to begin initial commercial operations in 2025.
This investment is expected to create approximately 600 new jobs in Colorado Springs over the next several years, with about 300 jobs already established during the construction phase. The site will also function as a Military Center of Excellence, aiming to recruit 50% of its workforce from veterans and military families, demonstrating a commitment to local economic and workforce development.
