On Oct 23 2025, Mountain Valley Pipeline, LLC—a joint venture that includes EQT—filed a formal application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to construct the MVP Boost project, which will expand the MVP Mainline’s capacity from 2 Bcf/d to 2.6 Bcf/d.

The expansion will add compression at three existing compressor stations in West Virginia and build a new station in Virginia, increasing the pipeline’s capacity by 600 Mdth/d. EQT, as the largest equity holder and operator of the MVP Mainline, will operate the new facilities and oversee the project’s implementation.

The MVP Boost project is designed to meet growing demand from industrial users, power generation, and distribution companies in the Mid‑Atlantic and Southeast. The joint venture, which also includes NextEra Energy, Consolidated Edison, AltaGas, and RGC Resources, is fully subscribed by investment‑grade utilities, underscoring the project’s commercial viability.
