An Indian antitrust investigation has concluded that there was no price collusion between the domestic units of FedEx, UPS, and DHL. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) initiated the probe in 2022 following accusations from a book publishers' group regarding alleged collusion on discounts and tariffs.
The investigation, which reviewed thousands of emails, found no evidence that the companies shared 'commercially sensitive information amongst themselves' or violated antitrust laws. The report stated that the allegations leveled by the informant could not be substantiated.
This finding, completed in July and shared with parties in late October, comes as a relief to FedEx and the logistics industry. It removes a significant regulatory overhang and potential financial penalties, allowing FedEx to continue its operations in India without the burden of these allegations.
