FirstEnergy Corp. announced the kickoff of a new substation and 345‑kV transmission line in northwest Ohio on October 22, 2025. The project, led by American Transmission Systems, Inc. (ATSI), a FirstEnergy transmission subsidiary, will add a nine‑mile high‑voltage line and a new substation to the existing grid in Fulton County.

The new substation will connect to the existing Sydney Substation via two half‑mile power lines, expanding the network’s capacity and flexibility. The project is part of FirstEnergy’s $28 billion Energize365 program and represents more than $200 million of investment in the region’s high‑voltage infrastructure.

By adding this capacity, FirstEnergy aims to reduce outages on high‑voltage lines and improve reliability for customers in Delta Village, Fulton, Pike, Swan Creek, and York townships. The initiative aligns with the company’s broader strategy to modernize its grid and support industrial growth in northwest Ohio.
