FICO, Jersey Telecom (JT) and the GSMA have announced a partnership to accelerate the global rollout of Scam Signal, a real‑time fraud‑prevention solution that uses network API data to detect and stop authorized push payment (APP) scams as they occur.

Under the agreement, JT provides the Scam Signal technology, which combines real‑time telephony network data with customer and payment information during live transactions. FICO integrates the solution into its FICO® Platform and FICO® Customer Communication Services, enabling banks to intervene with personalized, omnichannel messages that disrupt scam attempts. The GSMA supports broader adoption by standardizing the use of its Open Gateway APIs across mobile operators.

Scam Signal is already deployed in the United Kingdom, Jersey, and Spain, and the partners are engaging operators in the United States, Canada, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Spain, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and Chile. In the UK, the solution has reduced the number of people scammed by 41%, cut fraud losses by 44%, and lowered false positives by 55%.

The partnership comes amid a global crackdown on APP fraud, which cost the world economy over $1 trillion in 2024. New UK legislation effective October 2024 requires banks to reimburse victims of APP fraud up to £85,000, increasing the urgency for robust real‑time protection. FICO’s expansion into fraud prevention aligns with its broader strategy to diversify beyond credit scoring into analytics, decisioning, and cybersecurity solutions.

Scam Signal has received several industry accolades, including the Best Anti‑Fraud Solution award at the 2024 Credit & Collections Technology Awards, a Silver Medal in the 2024 and 2025 Fraud Impact Awards from Datos Insights, and a 2025 Credit Award for Excellence in Fraud Prevention jointly awarded to Barclays and FICO for their deployment of the solution.
