JFrog Unveils Shadow AI Detection to Strengthen AI Governance

JFrog announced on November 13 2025 the launch of Shadow AI Detection, a new capability within its AI governance suite that automatically identifies and inventories AI models and external API calls that have not been formally approved. The tool is designed to mitigate the growing risk of shadow AI by providing a centralized inventory that enables enterprises to enforce security policies and maintain compliance with emerging regulations such as the U.S. Transparency in Frontier AI Act (SB‑53) and the EU AI Act.

Shadow AI Detection builds on JFrog’s existing security stack—Xray, Curation, and Runtime Security—and is integrated into the JFrog AI Catalog. By combining model registry functionality with real‑time monitoring of external API usage, the feature gives customers end‑to‑end visibility across the AI supply chain and supports audit trails required by regulated industries.

The announcement follows JFrog’s recent expansion into AI operations, including the acquisition of Qwak AI in June 2024 and the release of JFrog ML on March 4 2025. The new capability reinforces JFrog’s unified platform promise, differentiating it from competitors that rely on fragmented point solutions and positioning the company to capture demand for AI compliance tools in sectors such as finance, healthcare, and government.

The launch comes on the heels of JFrog’s Q3 2025 earnings beat, where revenue reached $136.9 million versus the $128.4 million expected and adjusted EPS was $0.22 versus the $0.16 forecast. Cloud revenue grew 50% year‑over‑year to $63.4 million, and the company raised its full‑year guidance, signaling confidence in its AI strategy and the broader shift toward cloud‑based services.

Management highlighted the strategic importance of securing the AI supply chain. CEO Shlomi Ben Haim said JFrog has become the system of record for modern software supply chains, while VP and CTO Yuval Fernbach noted that Shadow AI Detection will help companies use AI safely and responsibly. The feature is slated for general availability later in 2025.

By integrating AI governance into its core platform, JFrog positions itself to meet the growing demand for AI compliance solutions, strengthen its cloud revenue mix, and deepen its foothold in regulated markets.
