Fortuna Mining Corp. reported a fatal accident that occurred on February 24, 2025, at its Séguéla Mine in Côte d’Ivoire. The incident involved an employee of Mapa Protection Incendie (MPI), a specialized service provider, who was conducting a planned refilling of fire extinguishers at a contractor’s light vehicle maintenance workshop.
The employee tragically passed away from sustained injuries following an explosion during the handling of a fire extinguisher. No other individuals were injured in the incident. Fortuna has notified the relevant government and local authorities, and a comprehensive investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the accident.
