GoDaddy Inc. announced on January 15, 2025, that it will implement new information-security programs as part of a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The settlement addresses charges that the company failed to adequately secure its website-hosting services and protect customers from cyberattacks.

The agreement mandates GoDaddy to establish a comprehensive program to protect the security, confidentiality, and integrity of its services. It also prohibits the company from misrepresenting its security practices and requires the appointment of an independent assessor to oversee the program's implementation.

The FTC's complaint alleged that GoDaddy failed to implement reasonable security measures since 2018, leading to several security breaches between 2019 and 2022. GoDaddy stated that it expects minimal financial impact from complying with the terms and made no admission of fault or incurred monetary penalties.
