Corning Incorporated and Ensurge entered into a joint development agreement to advance solid‑state microbattery technology, combining Corning’s Ribbon Ceramic materials and process technology with Ensurge’s solid‑state microbattery architecture.

The partnership includes a $15 million investment from Corning in engineering services convertible to shares at NOK 1.11 per share, and warrants for up to $10 million at NOK 1.50 per share over two years, subject to an extraordinary general meeting and the continuation of the joint development agreement.

The collaboration aims to deliver ultra‑high energy density microbatteries for consumer, medical, industrial, and defense applications, leveraging Corning’s thin, flexible, durable Ribbon Ceramics and Ensurge’s roll‑to‑roll anode‑less solid‑state lithium chemistry.

Corning’s Senior Vice President of Emerging Innovations Group said the partnership will accelerate the commercialization of high‑performance energy storage for AI‑enabled devices and other high‑volume applications, while Ensurge’s CEO highlighted the benefit of Corning’s materials science leadership and manufacturing excellence.

The joint effort positions both companies to compete in the rapidly growing solid‑state battery market, alongside competitors such as QuantumScape and Toyota, and could open new revenue streams for Corning’s Mobile Consumer Electronics and Life Sciences segments.

The issuance of warrants and conversion shares requires approval from an extraordinary general meeting, which Ensurge plans to convene.

For Corning, the partnership expands its presence in the high‑growth solid‑state battery market and strengthens its portfolio in high‑performance energy storage, particularly for AI‑enabled devices.

For Ensurge, the partnership provides enhanced execution confidence and a stronger foundation for long‑term growth.
