Green Plains Inc. announced that all key milestones for its 'Advantage Nebraska' carbon capture strategy have been met, keeping the project on track for operation in the second half of 2025. Tallgrass has secured all rights of way for the laterals connecting Green Plains' Nebraska plants to the Trailblazer CO2 Pipeline, and all Class VI sequestration well permits have been issued.

Construction of the compression infrastructure is scheduled to begin in February 2025, with equipment delivery anticipated in the second quarter of 2025. This progress positions Green Plains to permanently sequester 800,000 tons of biogenic carbon dioxide annually from its Central City, Wood River, and York, Nebraska locations starting in the second half of the year.

The recently released 45Z GREET model is expected to allow U.S. corn ethanol to reduce its carbon intensity (CI) score by approximately 32 points with carbon capture and sequestration. For example, the Central City facility, with a base CI score of 51, could achieve a CI of 19 with carbon capture, significantly enhancing its eligibility for valuable clean fuel incentives.
