Granite Construction has been awarded an approximately $80 million contract by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to upgrade a section of Farm to Market 548 (FM 548) near Forney, Texas. This project is funded by state sources and was included in Granite’s first-quarter Committed and Awarded Projects (CAP).

The infrastructure project will transform the existing asphalt paved roadway from FM 548 north of US 80 to Windmill Farms Blvd into a concrete paved roadway. It includes additional travel lanes and significant drainage upgrades, with over 200,000 square yards of 10-inch concrete pavement and over 40,000 linear feet of new storm drain.

These improvements are designed to increase traffic capacity and relieve congestion in the rapidly growing City of Forney and surrounding Kaufman County. Construction is expected to begin in July 2025 and is projected to be completed in March 2027, aligning with Granite's core competencies and home market strategy.
