Granite Construction announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Layne, A Granite Company, has been awarded an approximately $13 million contract by the Lewis and Clark Regional Water System (LCRWS). The contract is for the construction of two high-capacity horizontal collector wells near Vermillion, South Dakota.

Each well is designed with a pumping capacity of 25 million gallons per day (MGD), contributing a total of 50 MGD of raw water supply to the LCRWS. The wells will be constructed as 16-foot inner diameter concrete caissons, reaching an approximate depth of 135 feet.

Project funding is provided by federal and member sources and was included in Granite’s third-quarter Committed and Awarded Projects (CAP). Construction is expected to begin in September 2025 and is projected to be completed in June 2028, building on Layne's previous successful work for LCRWS.
