Himax Technologies, Inc. announced the launch of its new HX8882-F13, an integrated timing controller (Tcon) solution. This product features an industry-first, full-area selectable local dewarping functionality, along with Himax’s local dimming technology and On-Screen Display (OSD) functions designed for automotive functional safety.
The multi-functional Tcon is specifically suited for Head-Up Display (HUD) applications, combining powerful image enhancement with unmatched dewarping functionality. It corrects image distortion caused by windshield curvature or optical projection angles, ensuring critical information is distortion-free.
Himax’s proprietary design enables precise dewarping on any region of the display, a capability that contrasts with competing solutions offering only full-screen or split-screen dewarping. Leading industry players are currently conducting proof-of-concept evaluations of this upgraded Tcon for integration into next-generation automotive HUD systems.
