HIVE Digital Technologies announced the appointment of Craig Tavares as President and Chief Operating Officer of Buzz HPC, a wholly-owned subsidiary focused on GPU Cloud and High-Performance Computing (HPC) services. This strategic hire aims to bolster the leadership of HIVE's rapidly expanding AI and HPC business segment.
Tavares brings over 20 years of extensive experience in digital infrastructure, having held leadership roles across cloud, telecom, and data center operations. His career includes developing Toronto Hydro Telecom’s metro fiber network, launching Aptum’s global cloud business, and overseeing Apple’s cloud infrastructure strategy.
At Buzz HPC, Tavares will focus on scaling the company’s Sovereign AI GPU platform, which operates on renewable energy and serves demanding workloads across AI, big data, and HPC markets. Executive Chairman Frank Holmes stated that Tavares is a 'true champion of our vision to scale our HPC business to $100 million in revenue'.
