On September 23, 2025, Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced the cancellation of all future production of the Acura ZDX electric crossover that had been manufactured by General Motors at its Spring Hill Assembly plant in Tennessee. The decision, communicated to plant workers via a message, was driven by market conditions for electric vehicles and the company’s long‑term strategic goals. The ZDX had sold approximately 19,000 units since its launch, with more than 11,000 sold through August 2025. Honda stated that the vehicle had played a valuable role for the Acura brand, but that the company will instead focus on the upcoming all‑electric Acura RSX, slated for production at the EV Hub in Ohio in the second half of 2026, and on hybrid‑electric models currently in development. Production of the Prologue, another Acura EV assembled by GM, will continue in Mexico, and Honda will maintain its partnership with GM for future opportunities. The move reflects a broader realignment of Honda’s U.S. EV portfolio to better match slower demand for electric cars and to concentrate resources on higher‑margin hybrid and next‑generation electric models.
